WholeVine Products Hosts Gourmet Gluten-Free Event at Kendall Jackson to Support Bay Area Celiac Community and Children’s Camp
Santa Rosa, CA – July 26, 2013 – The Kendall Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens will be the lovely setting for a special event hosted jointly by WholeVine Products and the Celiac Community Foundation of Northern California on Saturday, August 10th. The event will introduce WholeVine products to an influential group of community members and provide support to the nonprofit foundation that administers Camp Celiac.
Leaders from the nonprofit, business and medical sectors in the gluten-free community, the NorCal Gluten-Free Alliance, will be treated to talks, cooking demos and tastings. The invitation-only event will take place at the Kendall Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens at 5007 Fulton Rd, Fulton, CA, from 1:00-3:00pm.
Justin Wangler, executive chef of Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates and Partake by K-J, will highlight the uses of WholeVine products in the kitchen. He will be joined by sous-chef Eric Frischkorn. Torey Arvik, PhD, Director of Applied and Research Science at WholeVine Products, will explain the nutritional science underlying the natural ingredients.
WholeVine ingredients are harvested from coastal fine wine vineyards to craft nutritious foods and baked goods: grape skin and seed flour, culinary oils, and gluten-free cookies. WholeVine flours and baked goods are high in nutritional components that are generally lacking in gluten-free flours.
In keeping with the vision of company founders Barbara Banke and Peggy Furth, WholeVine plans to donate a substantial portion of its profits to children’s charities. This summer, the company donated cases of its cookies to Camp Celiac, which is administered by the Celiac Community Foundation of Northern California in partnership with The Taylor Family Foundation. The camp is provided free to children with celiac disease, thanks to the generosity of the business community and individual donors.
About WholeVine Products
WholeVine Products is a trademark of SonomaCeuticals LLC (Santa Rosa, California). The company’s business model is the entrepreneurial inspiration of co-founders Barbara Banke and Peggy Furth, long-time friends and successful businesswomen who also fund and co-manage the operation. Barbara Banke was instrumental in fostering the meteoric rise of Jackson Family Wines, one of the most successful fine wine businesses in the world, and ardently supports the protection of natural resources and reduction of business’s impact on nature. Peggy Furth launched her professional career at the Kellogg company as a leader in food safety and nutrition, later becoming a proprietor of Sonoma County luxury wine operation Chalk Hill Vineyards, where she developed a deep passion for sustainability of the land.
Working with the academic and business communities, SonomaCeuticals operates on a model of “full-cycle sustainability” which touches all aspects of the community through respect for the environment and ingenuity in leveraging the use of renewable resources to fund additional research and support charitable organizations that offer support to children in need.
WholeVine’s cookies earned four awards, including the prestigious Double Gold, at Sonoma County’s 2012 Harvest Fair. They come in four flavors – Oatmeal California Currant, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Chocolate-chip – and they use a blend of WholeVine grape skin and seed flours. They are certified gluten-free.
